The issuing authority controls

Where anything here differs from what the issuing authority says, the issuing authority is right. Offices change fees, hours, appointment availability and procedures without notice, and some publish contradictory pages. Always confirm the details that matter to you with the office linked at the top of the jurisdiction page before you travel or commit to a date.

Accuracy and limits

Every fact is quoted from an official source and dated, and where an office publishes nothing we say so rather than guessing. Even so, the information is provided as-is, without warranty of any kind. Unusual circumstances — an applicant under the local age, guardianship, incapacity, foreign documents, or a recently ended prior marriage — frequently require official review this site cannot anticipate.
