The Records Department will email a list of judges who perform marriage ceremonies on request. Kansas statute authorizes clergy and religious authorities, licentiates or appointees of a denomination, any judge or justice of a court of record including a retired one, and any municipal judge of a Kansas city; it also allows the two parties to marry without an officiant by mutual declaration under the customs of a religious society to which either belongs.

    A marriage license is $85.50. You will also be charged a $2.14 fee if you pay by credit or debit card, or a $1.25 fee if you pay by electronic check. When you apply for your Marriage License there will be a 3-Day waiting period before we can start working on your License. Once those 3 days have passed, it can take up to 10 additional business days for us to create and email your Marriage License to you. Your marriage will require two witnesses over the age of 18, their names need to be PRINTED on your Marriage License.

    Marriage may be validly solemnized and contracted in this state, after a license has been issued for the marriage, in the following manner: By the mutual declarations of the two parties to be joined in marriage, made before an authorized officiating person and in the presence of at least two competent witnesses over 18 years of age, other than the officiating person.
